Are you still with us? Not much has happened for more than two years other than a lot of soul-searching. Thanks for hanging in there. This year is different for a number of key reasons.

In prior years our visits have been limited to time off from jobs, nearby family housing availability, and associated expenses. This year one of us has retired and we’re planning to remain onsite for several months or until the weather makes it challenging to live in the RV. Knowing that a local builder with experience saving old properties will be available to help has us particularly optimistic.

We haul in a screened veranda addition to the RV in hopes it will expand living space, help reduce what gets tracked inside the RV, and deter flying insects such as the swarm of mosquitos happily breeding in the standing water covering the cellar floor. They may be seasonal, but the black flies are a real annoyance and we need all the help we can get dealing with their swarms.

While we’re de-winterizing the RV and restoring utilities, a May dusting of snow serves as a reminder that it’s not yet summer weather. But back in Texas, daytime highs are forecast to be in the 90s until October. Knowing that, helps keep us warm on the cold Vermont mornings.
